Q9. What is Data Protection Password or DPP?

Bit Guardian Parental Control takes the security of your kids’ data seriously. The purpose of Data Protection Password is to protect the confidentiality of your kid’s digital data while it is stored on our servers or transmitted to your device using the internet.

All your kids’ data is encrypted and guarded by an encryption key known as the Data Protection Password or DPP (set by the parent). All data can only be viewed in its original format when it is decrypted with the correct Data Protection Password.

Note: Please refer to FAQ no. 10 for more details.

Q10. I do not remember my DPP. How do I reset it?

If you forgot your DPP, you can use the hint to recall it. In case, if you have mailed the DPP to your email address, you can retrieve it from there too.

But still, if you cannot recall it, there are two ways in which you can reset the Data Protection Password.

Method 1: From the DPP Screen

When you enter the wrong DPP on the Data Protection Password screen, you will be automatically redirected to an Incorrect Password pop-up.

Step 1: If you can recall your password using the hint or retrieve it from your email ID, tap Try Again, and if not tap Reset Now.

Step 2: Enter your new password. Re-enter the same password to confirm it. Add a hint so that you can recall your password later on. Tap Set Password.

Note 1: For security purposes, we do not save your DPP anywhere on our server. Therefore, we highly recommend you to mail a copy of your DPP to your email ID so that in case if you forget it, you can always retrieve it from there.

Note 2: Every time you reset your DPP, you will end up losing all your kid’s data previously stored on our server.

Q11. I am asked to verify my DPP every time I log in. Why is it needed?

The primary purpose of the Data Protection Password (DPP) is to protect and secure your kid’s data while it is stored on our servers or transmitted to your device using the internet. DPP is designed to ensure that the data remains in encrypted form and you are the only one who can decrypt it by entering the correct password.

Bit Guardian Parental Control asks you to verify your Data Protection Password (DPP) every time you log in to the parent mode or child mode because it is not saved anywhere on our servers.

We highly recommend you to mail a copy of your DPP to your email ID so that in case if you forget it, you can always retrieve it from there.
